Homemade Pizza

There is no excuse for not making your own pizzas at home.  It's much easier than you might think and the result is amazing!

About this recipe

When I was a child, we made pizzas from scratch almost weekly.  It was always a special treat, and I always had more preparation responsibilities than I did with most other meals, so I won on two counts.  Needless to say, I've been making pizzas at home ever since.

Ingredients

  • Thin Crust Pizza dough or Quick Pan Pizza dough
  • Pizza Sauce or Fresh Pizza Sauce
  • your favorite toppings (pepperoni, sausage, ham, mushrooms, peppers, onion, olives, anchovies, etc.)
  • your favorite cheese(s)

Directions

  1. Prepare your favorite pizza sauce.
  2. Prepare your favorite pizza dough and roll it out according to the instructions.
  3. Add the sauce, and one layer of toppings (pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions, olives, etc.).  No toppings on top of toppings, please!  Then sprinkle the cheese over the top.
  4. Bake in a conventional oven at 525° F on a pizza stone for seven minutes, or until the crust begins to char.

Notes

  • Your pizza creation will taste best, I assure you, if you can see all the ingredients before and after you cook it!  If you can't see the sauce, you have used too much cheese.  This will require some discipline, but you will be rewarded.
