Chianti Sauce

The perfect accompaniment to Panna Cotta with fresh berries.

Sometimes the simple solution is best, and what could be simpler than creating a simple syrup using your favorite red wine?  I like to serve this with fruit, but its potential uses are limited only by our imaginations,

Ingredients

  • 2 parts Chianti
  • 1 part sugar

Directions

  1. Combine the wine and sugar in a saucepan.  Bring to a boil and then reduce by half.
  2. Serve warm or chilled.

Notes

  • Obviously, any wine can be substituted for the Chianti.  If you use a sweet wine, however, reduce the sugar by half.
