Grandpa Joe's
Strawberry Banana Milkshake

I proudly present this one at my youngest granddaughter's request!

About this recipe

My three oldest grandchildren are teenagers.  Since they were old enough to enjoy ice cream, I have been making their favorite milkshakes – always letting them do as much of the work as they wanted (or could).  Now, of course, they can make the milkshakes themselves, but they still prefer I do it for them.  If you have grandchildren you already know that I always oblige with a smile.  It's truly a labor of love.

Ingredients

  • vanilla, strawberry, or banana ice cream
  • whole milk
  • fresh strawberries
  • fresh banana
  • strawberry syrup

Directions

  1. Start with 4 big scoops of ice cream in a blender.
  2. Add a half-glass of milk (use the same glass that will hold the finished milkshake).
  3. Add 6 or 7 halved strawberries and half a banana, sliced.
  4. Squeeze the strawberry syrup bottle over the blender and count to 6!
  5. Blend on the slowest speed for 3 seconds, and then progress to the highest speed, one step at a time, hold on each step for 2 or 3 seconds each.  Stop the blender and repeat the process from the lowest to the highest speed.
  6. Pour into the milkshake glass and serve immediately with a straw.
  7. Enjoy the smiling face looking at you!

Notes

  • Alternatively, skip the strawberry syrup entirely and just add another 6 or 7 halved strawberries!
