Grandpa Joe's
Roasted Fresh Sweet Corn

A seasonal favorite, for sure!

About this recipe

Step one of this recipe is to find a local purveyor of fresh corn picked daily, typically beginning in mid to late July and extending well into September.  It is worth the extra effort.

Ingredients

  • freshly picked sweet corn

Directions

  1. Preheat a gas or charcoal grill.
  2. Place the unhusked ears of corn on the grill.
  3. Close the grill cover and roast for 10 minutes.
  4. Rotate the ears of corn 180 degrees.
  5. Close the grill cover and roast for another 10 minutes.
  6. Shuck, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • There is no reason to soak freshly picked corn in water before roasting (as some recipes recommend).  In fact, soaking corn that is more than a day old is also an unnecessary step.
  • I recommend using two dish towels when shucking the hot roasted corn to keep the corn hot and your hands cool!
