Cocktail Sauce

A family favorite for countless years.


About this recipe

Every good shrimp deserves an equally good cocktail sauce.  Grandma Karen has been making this one for decades and no-one has complained yet.

I have learned recently, however, that horseradish looses its intensity very quickly after the bottle has been opened.  So, for best results (assuming you enjoy horseradish), use a new bottle.  Also, if no-one is watching, feel free to add more than called for in the recipe.

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces Heinz Chili Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon horseradish
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 teaspoons onion, finely grated
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a small bowl.
  2. Mix well.
  3. Refrigerate for at least two hours before serving.

Notes

  • Please note this recipe uses Heinz Chili Sauce, not Heinz Cocktail Sauce!
